The Bounce That Started It All
From a backyard experiment to millions of hands worldwide, we’ve spent three decades perfecting the art of the rubber-band sphere.
Born from a Simple Idea
In 1988, a father wanted to teach his kids to play catch — but traditional balls kept slipping through small hands. His solution: bundle hundreds of rubber filaments into a sphere that sticks on contact. The Koosh Ball was born in a California garage, and within months, playgrounds across America were filled with bouncing, grippable spheres.
We’ve refined the design, expanded the color range, and introduced sizes from keychain-mini to mondo-giant — but the core principle remains unchanged. A Koosh is hundreds of natural rubber bands radiating from a single core, engineered to feel alive in your hand and forgiving when you miss the catch.
Three Decades of Bouncing Forward
The key moments that shaped how the world plays with rubber.
The First Prototype
A garage workbench, 2,000 rubber bands, and a father determined to create a catch toy that actually works for kids. The original Koosh Ball ships to its first customers.
Playground Sensation
Schools across the US adopt Koosh Balls for recess programs. The toy’s soft-landing design makes it safe for indoor play, sparking a nationwide trend.
Rainbow Expansion
We launch multi-color Koosh Balls, layering different hues of rubber to create gradient spheres. The rainbow Koosh becomes the most requested variant.
Game Systems Arrive
Koosh Paddles and the Koosh Slingshot debut, turning a sensory toy into an active game platform. We sell over 2 million game sets in the first year.
Mini Keychain Launch
The mini Koosh Ball shrinks the original to palm-size, clipping onto backpacks and keyrings. It becomes the most-gifted fidget toy of the early 2000s.
Giant Koosh Era
We scale up: the Giant Koosh and Mondo Koosh arrive, measuring up to 10 inches in diameter. Oversized rubber spheres become backyard staples.
Global Reach
Koosh Balls ship to over 30 countries. The design is recognized internationally as a symbol of accessible, sensory-friendly play.
Still Evolving
We continue refining rubber blends, testing new color combinations, and supporting sensory-play programs. The original garage invention now lives in millions of homes.
What Drives Us Today
We make toys that invite touch. Every Koosh Ball is designed to feel tactile, responsive, and forgiving — qualities that matter whether you’re five or fifty. We focus on natural rubber construction, durable cores, and colors that pop on camera and in hand.
Our commitment is simple: keep the original design honest, expand the range where it makes sense, and never compromise on the grip and bounce that made the first prototype stick.
What We Make
The full Koosh Ball lineup, from pocket-size to giant, all built around the same rubber-filament principle.
